Birmingham YouTube Gathering - Jordan Goode
Co-organiser Jordan Goode of will be attending the debut YouTube Gathering

Birmingham’s very first YouTube Gathering is set to take place this weekend with hundreds of UK ‘vloggers’ of the video website descending on the city.

Following the event’s inception in Los Angeles in 2007 and a host of successful YouTube Gatherings across the world, England’s second city is adopting the mass social get-together for the first time this Saturday (25th June).

Expected to be attended by YouTube vloggers and enthusiasts from across the region and country, the soon to be annual congregation will begin outside the Bullring’s TK Maxx at 12.30pm, before heading onto various city locations for workshops, a tour, filming sessions, vlogging, fun games and competitions.

The proceedings will culminate with a mob of participants ‘planking’, a craze involving people lying flat, face-down in public places and on landmarks while being photographed or filmed.

Birmingham You-Tuber Jamie Chapman, along with fellow vloggers Jordan Goode and Gordon Campbell, came up with the idea of holding the event in the city after attending its equivalent in Bath.

Chapman, 21, feels the events is as much for people looking to take their first steps into the vlogging world as much as some of the city’s more seasoned YouTube talent.

“YouTube Gatherings are always a great atmosphere because of the variety and the outgoing personalities of people that turn up to them,” he explained.

“Myself and the other organisers have been to a few different ones across the country this year and thought it would be great to set one up in a central location of the UK in Birmingham”

The event is open to both those who create videos on YouTube and those who just want to meet or network with those that do.
