Selfridges welcome a taste of Indian cuisine

Itihaas have introduced their unique Indian cuisine to Selfridges in Birmingham

A taste of the Indian subcontinent has arrived at Birmingham’s prestigious Selfridges store as this month sees the addition of a fine dining experience to their ground floor food hall.

Itihaas Brasserie is a new venture from the owners of Itihaas fine dining restaurant in the Jewellery Quarter.  The new concept sets to offer Itihaas’s original renowned Indian cuisine and high standards yet in a casual setting.

Discerning diners and busy shoppers will get the chance to enjoy many favourites including India’s most loved Mumbai Street food and South Indian cuisine favourites, including favourites such as Chicken Samosa and Gol Guppa, both known for their bold flavours yet light texture.

Itihaas Indian Cuisine

The menu is inspired by rich and aromatic North-western Indian flavours, giving customers the chance to taste award winning Indian food in the heart of the city.“Itihaas means history in Hindi and derives its root from the Sanskrit word for history – Itihaasa. We will bring the true Indian hospitality to Selfridges, echoing our Itihaas mantra of ‘Atithi Devo Bhavah’ – ‘the guest is God’.  We hope discerning shoppers and diners alike will come and experience the new dawn of Itihaas in Birmingham’s shopping heaven.” explained the restaurant’s Managing Director Raj Rana.

For the first week Itihaas is offering a complimentary glass of bubbly or a refreshing Kulfi shake, made from creamy Indian ice creams, to thank diners for joining the launch celebrations.

Brand General Manager Dee Sarai added: “We constantly strive to bring new and exciting ventures in Selfridges Birmingham and are delighted to have Itihaas joining our Food Hall. Itihaas brings with it an authentic sense of Indian culture and delicious food, we hope our customers enjoy this great new addition to the Food Hall.”
