Comedian and actor Johnny Vegas is the latest celebrity to join the impressive cast of showbiz and sporting stars performing at this month’s Top Gear Live at Birmingham’s NEC.
The 41-year-old TV personality will be competing in a live version of a ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ during Saturday evening’s thrilling Track Performance show.
Each of the nine action-packed Track Performance shows staged over the four days of Top Gear Live will include a well-known personality racing against the clock from behind the wheel of Top Gear’s ‘reasonably priced’ Kia Cee’d hatchback with their individual lap times added to an overall leader board.
Those competing against Vegas include fellow showbiz and media stars Otis Deley from the Gadget Show, Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon, celebrity chef Paul Hollywood and broadcaster Johnny Vaughan as well as Olympic medallists Anthony Joshua and Max Whitlock.
“It’s a terrific line-up,” enthused Daniel Nwaokolo, Event Director. “It’s a real honour for us to have two of our Olympic heroes performing at Top Gear Live after their brilliant individual triumphs during London 2012 and it’s great to see so many famous faces from TV and radio risking their reputations in Top Gear’s reasonably priced car. We always wanted to have a really big name for the 7.15pm show on Saturday and Johnny Vegas certainly fits the bill. You couldn’t have a better ‘lads night out’ than spending an evening in the company of Clarkson, Hammond, May, The Stig and Johnny Vegas. It’s one not to be missed.”
The Star in a Reasonably Priced Car is just one of the many highlights that will be wowing fans at this month’s spectacular motoring extravaganza hosted by the hit BBC programme’s three presenters – Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
The Stig, the show’s tame racing driver, will also be on centre stage along with a wealth of mouth-watering supercars, breathtaking stunts and a series of epic head-to-head grudge match showdowns on a specially constructed indoor racetrack. Other highlights include a special film marking the tenth anniversary of the Top Gear TV show in its current format, a fitting tribute to 50 years of James Bond plus a dramatic new version of Top Gear Live’s world record Deadly 720 stunt. It all adds up to an amazing day’s entertainment and it is no surprise that ticket pre-sales are running at record levels.
