Local hospice offers New Year charity challenges

With the New Year well underway, one local charity is asking Brummies to put their resolutions to good use to help support terminally ill people across Birmingham and Sandwell.

In 2013, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is inviting people to take part in any one of many events and challenges to help keep their resolutions for a full twelve months.Whether it is getting fit and completing the Bupa Great Birmingham Run, conquering their fear of heights to take part in our skydive or seeing more of the world by taking part in our Himalaya trek – everyone can make a difference in 2013, not only in their own lives but also in the lives of people in the area living with a life-limiting illness.

Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, an independent adult hospice providing care to people across Birmingham and Sandwell, and opened its doors in 1979 and cares for around 1,000 people a year.

The hospice provides care free of charge to all patients and relatives but currently needs to raise nearly £7 million annually to fund its life-changing services.

Claire Marshall, Head of Income Generation and Marketing said: “So many people start January with good intentions but it can be hard to find the motivation to stick to them. By signing up to support the hospice through these activities, it is not only yourself that you will be letting down if you give up.”
