Birmingham is home to several high-profile annual community celebrations and parades, from Chinese New Year festivities and Birmingham Pride to the Birmingham Mela and Birmingham Carnival, but if there was ever one event that seems to bring everyone together – regardless of age, background or heritage – it would have to be St Patrick’s Day.
Among the sea of green and gold banners, balloons, flags and floats are an even wider array of colours, cultures and identities; as St Patrick’s Day joy attracts city residents and visitors from all walks of life. Unlike the somewhat largely shunned St George’s Day celebrations, a cross spectrum of Brummies identify with the city’s Irish community, in unity, solidarity and spirit.

St Patrick's Day Parade in #Birmingham #BrumIsBrill #PositivelyBrum
I love my country and I love Diversity (I bet Susan Boyle didn't) But can anyone explain why it is ok for everyone to suport and have fun on St Patricks Day but not on St Georges Day?
Woudent it be wonderfull if we could all support the people who were born/ live/work here wth a diverse and multicultural St Georges day Parade. My fear is we had become to associate St George as a right wing and bigoted day. I am not interested in the name we could call it Diana Day ffs we could even call it Darren Day! or maybe Diversity Day. Why can't we all go out and have fun on St Georges Day? St Patricks Day is enjoyed and supported around the world by more than just people or Irish decent... Let all people celebrate and hold hands across the world. Lets Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood......For there is none of us so mean and base, That hath not noble lustre in our eyes.....Follow your spirit, and upon this charge Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George.............
You know, I think post UK Exit "The will of the people" who decided 2 + 2 = 5 will think the return of St Georges Day is a good idea.
Perhaps I have answered my own question........ :(
