The West Midlands Combined Authority Mayoral Election polls closed last night at 10pm and ballot boxes were brought into the Birmingham Barclaycard Arena, ready for the official count this morning.

We’ll be bringing you live updates from the count, and results as they are announced. The latest updates will be posted at the top of the feed below:

The West Midlands Combined Authority Mayoral Election polls closed last night at 10pm and ballot boxes were brought into the Birmingham Barclaycard Arena, ready for the official count this morning.

Counting has begun at the venue this morning. First round results are expected at 1pm.

Counting started at 9am and results for each round and  local authority area will be made available when they become known.

An announcement will be made when a new set of results is confirmed, but the results themselves will not be read out other than the overall first round and second round results, which will be announced by the returning officer.

According to election officials:

“The first round results are expected to be declared at around 1pm, with final second round results by 6pm, however, these are only estimates.”

By-election results are expected around the same time as first round result and will be announced by the returning officer.
