REVIEW: Star-studded Elite Fashion Show sparkles supreme

On Sunday 25th June 2017, I had the exquisite pleasure of attending the Elite Fashion Show at the MacDonald Burlington Hotel.

Now in its third year, and brainchild of the wonderfully talented Mr. Birmingham 2015-2017 and close personal friend, Joshua Williams, the show has come a long way from whence it began.

The evening of haute couture started as all great events do with complementary champagne and a speech from the managing director of the show, while guests took to their seats for the ensuing sparkle.

Models, welcomed to the stage by glamorous hosts Lizzie and Wayne, strutted their stuff one by one, up and down the runway, showing off pieces from both established and emerging designers.

From elegant evening gowns to captivating conceptual clothing, the fashion show had it all, with designers from Dolls of Decadence, Mirror Image Style, Tiffany Stanford Boutique, K’s Gems Rocks, Kiss Me Kate, Donna Marina, Lucy Jones, Latisha Augstine , Lord Swagger, Forever Devine, Rosie Billington and House of Dz, there was something for everyone.

For the most popular designer, as voted for by the public, a grand prize of an exclusive photoshoot with Pellegrini e Costache was up for grabs.

The show was graciously sponsored by Global Connect and by Irwin Mitchell in association with Safety in Beauty, without whom the Sunday night spectacle could not have happened.

The guest list was peppered with assorted stars and celebrities including Georgio Armarni and Harvey Nichols model Vincent Alexander Azzopardi, X Factor’s Relley C and Harry Fisher, and current Miss Birmingham Niamh Conway.

Also starring the amazing dance troupe choreographed and left by international dance star and local talent Shelley Anderson, who is one to keep an eye on as she and her team plan to bring their unique dance flair to the Jewellery Quarter very soon.

Event founder Joshua Williams, had this to say:

“It is incredible to see Elite become established as a premier fashion event. We aim to bring talent back to Birmingham which is often overlooked as a city despite having so much creative talent here. We are more than just a fashion show. We are a platform to celebrate diverse talent whilst raising funds for selected causes each year. So far, this amount has reached £4671.45”.

All in all a wonderful night out that not only has raised £1254.48 for local charity Love Brum, raising a little over 125% of their £1000 goal. Love Brum supports and funds great local causes and a passionate speech was given by ambassador Tru Powell.

This year’s Elite Fashion Show has really raised the bar for fashion events in the city centre and I want to extend to Joshua my congratulations and thanks for such a wonderful night.
