Brummie Jacob John is quite the expert at more advanced Calisthenics, which is basically types of exercises that test, push and build a person’s physical strength using body weight.

For most, this can be anything from push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups or aerobic resistance stretching. For others, like Jacob John, this can be anything from ‘swinging’ around on monkey bars, hauling yourself up for some painful-lookin’ pull-ups, and attempting a lot (really, a lot) of complex handstands.

Calisthenics are bodyweight exercises made up of rhythmic movements – such as running, standing, grasping, pushing, etc. – which aim to increase body strength, body fitness, and flexibility, through pulling, pushing, bending, jumping, or swinging movements; using one’s body weight for resistance.

This form of training can also benefit muscular and aerobic conditioning, improving psychomotor skills including balance, agility and coordination. And this Brummie lad has managed to use the flexibility of the fitness style to sculpt himself a very impressive physique.

And performs at weddings…

But also likes to work out…

He’s a huge fan of Calisthenics…

And quite partial to progress selfies…

Forever pale… 😂 On the left is me 18 months ago and on the right are pics from today! But back in Aug/Sept I lost over 2 stone due to a fun little 7 week illness and dropped down to around the same weight I was on the left… I wasn't eating or training and felt like a lot of hard work had gone down the drain. But in October once I began to feel better I kicked my training into overdrive with a newfound motivation, dedication and focus… And although my goals are performance based not aesthetics, I'd still like to think Ive done alright so far💪🏻 On a side note, Ive been getting a lot of questions lately about how I train and see results. I'm working on a little project that will be released in the not too distant future but in the meantime feel free to drop me a message or comment below, stay strong!! 💪🏻💪🏻 #calisthenics #bodyweighttraining #gym #fitfam #fitspo #fitness #calisthenicsmovement #inspiration #transformation #streetworkout #gymlife #ukcalisthenics #barstarzz #gymnastics #instafit #abs #biceps #gymmotivation #bodyweight #calisthenicstraining #muscle #buildmuscle #bodygoals #progress #positivity #getfit #fit

8 WEEKS natural transformation… don't let anyone tell you you can't make big changes quickly with the right amount of hard work! Now personally I much prefer setting performance based goals as opposed to aesthetic ones… but regardless of what motivates you to put in the work every day, it's always nice to look back at old photos and see a difference Photo 1 -> Nov '16 Photo 2 -> Jan '17 • • • • • • • #calisthenics #calisthenicsmovement #calisthenicsworkout #fitness #streetworkout #transformation #muscle #workout #gym #bodyweight #bodyweighttraining #buildmuscle #buildyourbody #instafit #inspiration #fitspo #fit #abs #fitnessmodel #biceps #delts #personaltrainer #gymnastics #fitnessisfun

He’s not bad at pull-ups…

Actually quite good…

Whether indoors or outside…

In fact, he seems to spend a lot of time at bars…

Like, a lot lot…

It’s a bit mesmerising…

But it doesn’t always go to plan…

He also enjoys crunches…

and is pretty good at handstands…

Okay, so more than ‘pretty good’…

Can walk on air…

And has kinda strong arms…

Gotta build them muscles, after all…

But doesn’t forget leg day…

And remembers to stretch!

He’s gotten good…

So has taken up personal training…

Though you might not want to try something like this…
