Brummie rising star Antonio Aakeel – who appears in currently screening blockbuster Tomb Raider –  has just wrapped up filming a gritty but light-hearted coming-of-age drama in southern Spain.

After months of filming, the young West Midlands actor has completed production within the Iberian peninsula, in the UK feature Granada Nights.

Having appeared in feature film City of Tiny Lights and landmark BBC dramas Moving On and Three Girls, Antonio joins a largely young cast as lead character Ben, in an independent project from writer-director Abid Khan, his feature debut produced through EyeFive Films.

Touted as a social-comedy-drama for the Millennial generation, Granada Nights depicts Antonio Aakeel as a heartbroken British-Asian tourist on a journey of hedonism and discovery in the enchanting city of Granada in Spain.

In an attempt to remedy a failed relationship, he immerses himself into a new and diverse circle of international students and eccentric figures, as he sets off on a journey to explore fresh delights and experiences.

The film also stars Virgile Bramly (Inception), Alice Sanders (How To Talk To Girls At Parties), Tábata Cerezo (The Night Manager) and Oscar Casas (The Orphanage).

The film was shot entirely on location in Spanish city Granada, and is due to be released next year.
