Following a successful Birmingham Pride event this bank holiday weekend, the team behind the UK’s largest two-day LGBT+ festival have already announced the dates for 2019!
Set to return on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May, once again during the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend, the annual event in Birmingham’s Gay Village will feature the staple Carnival Parade from Victoria Square and a host of entertainment stages, fun fair, a big street party around Hurst Street in Southside, and an array of participating gay and lesbian bars and clubs.
While the theme for next year hasn’t been announced, a new logo has been released.
The latest design maintains the new typeface from this and last year’s Birmingham Pride logo, but replaces the recent 1980s inspired neon shapes and colours with more a basic ‘blocky’ layout; placing the text on two random shapes or ‘blobs’ which vary in colour depending on the use. It is not known if this design will continue to evolve before a final one is chosen.
Tens of thousands of revellers turned out for Birmingham Pride 2018 despite the unpredictable weather, making it one of the most eventful and diverse Pride celebrations hosted in the city.
Despite most UK Prides yet to take place, Birmingham organisers are already planning next year’s event due to how early the city’s annual event is scheduled.
Birmingham Pride 2019 takes place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May, and will be the city’s 22nd annual Pride celebrations. You can join the official Facebook event page here.
