Doctor Who themed live ‘Escape Rooms’ are heading to Birmingham

Official Doctor Who themed ‘Escape Rooms’ are heading to Birmingham, as part of a national launch of exciting live entertainment events later this year.

BBC Studios and Escape Hunt have announced that they will be bringing Doctor Who-themed live escape rooms to several locations across the nation.

From December 2018 the themed rooms will be available in the Bristol Escape Hunt venue, and from early 2019 further Doctor Who escape rooms will open in Birmingham, Leeds, Oxford and Reading.

Mat Way, Global Director of Live Entertainment at BBC Studios, says:

“It has been a long-term ambition of the team to be able to bring about Doctor Who-themed escape rooms. Our main role here at BBC Studios is to continually extend the fans enjoyment of our brands, and so to be announcing six new live entertainment games across the country to fans is something really exciting.”

Escape Hunt will be using the Doctor Who brand under license from BBC Studios.

“Following the success of our original Escape Hunt games, we are thrilled to be partnering with BBC Studios to create Doctor Who – The Live Escape Game. Going on an Escape Hunt is all about stepping into and experiencing new worlds so strength in different genres is absolutely key to our content strategy.

“Doctor Who represents the very best in British action adventure and has a loyal and dedicated fanbase that spans all generations. We look forward to bringing the show to life for all fans in its first ever live escape game experience at Escape Hunt venues across the UK.”

Escape Hunt already host live immersive experiences in Birmingham, including escape rooms with a ‘Our Finest Hour’ and ‘The Fourth Samurai’ themes. Participants can get involved as part of corporate team-building sessions or a personal social activity.
