From today, Paradise Circus is closed to all traffic until Summer 2019.
Broad Street area remains open for business while the Metro extension is built.
The extension of the Midland Metro to Broad Street and Centenary Square is expected to be open for service in late 2019. The second phase of the route, expected to open in 2021, will continue to Edgbaston.
From Monday 3 September Paradise Circus will be closed to traffic in both directions. Please plan your journey and avoid driving into the city centre whenever possible.
During construction, businesses and venues on Broad Street and the surrounding area remain open and ready to welcome you as usual.
The next phase of Birmingham Westside Metro Extension will commence in September 2018. This stage of the works will see the Metro line constructed from Victoria Square to Centenary Square.
To facilitate this stage of construction, Paradise Circus will close in both directions from Monday 3 September 2018 until summer 2019.
The A38 underpass, which runs beneath Paradise Circus, will remain open in both directions.
This part of the overall extension will be approximately 1.35km long and together with the Hagley Road terminus will feature intermediate stops at Brindleyplace and Five Ways.
The Midland Metro Alliance will be also improving the public realm as part of their works in the area project, including planting trees along the route.

Construction for the first phase of the Birmingham Westside extension to Centenary Square is already underway and passenger services are planned to commence in 2019/2020.
Construction for phase two (Centenary Square to Edgbaston) is planned to begin in 2019, with the line opening for passenger service in 2021.
Following the Transport and Works Act Order application in December 2013 and the Public Inquiry that closed in January 2014, the Secretary of State announced his decision to on the 16 May 2016, with modifications (notice and decision letter).
Service frequency will be six minutes service during peak times with an eight minute service off-peak.
Monday to Friday: 04:40 to 00:15
Saturday: 04:40 to 01:00
Sunday: 07:20 to 00:10 at 15 minute frequency
