An traffic collision which took place outside the Bullring in Birmingham in broad daylight this afternoon left passers-by shocked, as a driver lunged her car directly into a pedestrian in Edgbaston Street.
During a midday shopping rush, the driver of a vehicle mounted her car onto a pavement and slammed into a passing pedestrian – on the footpath outside Debenhams and the Bull Ring Indoor Market – in what has initially been suggested was a “freak accident”.
Members of the public who had gathered around following the crash reported that the silver hatchback slammed into an unidentified male, pinning him to the wall.
Shoppers rushed to help the man
Emergency services were quick on the scene, including two ambulances and fire crews from Highgate Station, who safely removed the man, as paramedics treated him at the scene. He is reported to have had a serious leg injury.
The victim of the tragic collision was taken to hospital, while West Midlands Police officers were seen escorting the driver away.
It is not known if the driver has been charged. Updates as we get them.
