Steve Bruce has been sacked as manager of Aston Villa Football Club, after two years in charge.
Is this the penalty miss by Glen Whelan that possibly cost Steve Bruce his job at Villa Park?
Villa gave up a 2-0 lead against Preston to be trailing 3-2 until the last few minutes. Villa equalised and had a chance to win the game, but only to have Whelan miss a key penalty.
Aston Villa fans were heard chanting “Bruce Out!” at last night’s home game against Preston following the mishap.
Villa had equalised in the 88th minute and had a chance to win the game deep in injury time, the 95th minute, but only for Whelan to miss the spot kick and mount further pressure from the fans, calling on Steve Bruce to be sacked by the Villa board.
The sacking has now been confirmed.
