Two men have been taken to hospital after being stabbed during a fight near Villa Park in Aston.

Police were called to Trinity Road in Birmingham earlier today (Friday 2nd November) after receiving reports of disorder between a group of men wielding knives.

Trinity Road was closed for two hours following the incident, at around 4pm this afternoon, in order for a forensic team to collect evidence. It has since been re-opened.

West Midlands Police stated a large group of men were involved in the fight, some carrying knives, in Trinity Road. Two people received minor knife injuries and were taken to hospital, but their condition is not believed to be serious.

The incident took place only minutes from the Aston Villa football stadium but it not thought to be connected to the team’s Championship game against Bolton Wanderers tonight.

A WMP spokeswoman added: “Enquiries are on-going as the road remains blocked off by officers, although it is expected to open shortly.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am – midnight, or to call 101 anytime.

“Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111. Please quote log number 1585 of 2 November.”
