A veteran US rock band from Seattle, Washington, is heading to Birmingham next this year to pay a date in the city in May, as part of national tour.

Alice In Chains remains one of the most successful and influential American rock bands of all time and are due to perform at Arena Birmingham.

Formed in 1987 by guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney, who later recruited bassist Mike Starr and lead vocalist Layne Staley. Starr was replaced by Mike Inez in 1993.

William DuVall joined the band in 2006 as co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, replacing Staley, who died in 2002. The band took its name from Staley’s previous group, the glam metal band Alice N’ Chains.

Over the course of their remarkable career, Alice In Chains has garnered multiple Grammy nominations, sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and amassed a diehard international fan base whose members number in the millions.

Alongside Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Alice In Chains was one of the Big Four to emerge from Seattle in the 1990s and went on to change the sound of modern rock.

Alice In Chains will be playing Arena Birmingham on Friday 24th May 2019, supported by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
