Coventry comedian Guz Khan has condemned the terrorists behind the Sri Lanka Easter attacks on several churches, calling out the perpetrators as ‘idiots, buffoons’ and a “disgrace”.

In a rant posted to his Twitter account earlier this evening, the Man Like Mobeen star unequivocally slammed those behind the recent attacks, which have reportedly claimed.

In the video, Khan declares: “If you blow up a church or any place of worship for that matter hoping to gain some kind of reward from God, you are an idiot, a disgrace, a buffoon, somebody that nobody wants to share this planet with.

“If you see the error of your ways, you’re still a disgrace! What’s put you in a mind-set where you think taking somebody’s life in a place of worship, or anywhere for that matter, is something that’s gonna get you a reward?”

Around 250 people were killed and over 500 injured following suicide bombers targeted several churches and high-end hotels across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.

The vast majority of the victims were Sri Lankans, but at least 38 foreigners were believed to be among the dead, including British, US and Indian citizens.

Following police raids and a shoot out which has left an additional 15 people dead, mounting evidence suggests terror group Daesh carried out the attack; with Sri Lankan police forces having made a number of arrests.

West Midlands actor and comedy star Guz Khan, who identifies as Muslim, refused to hold back in his condemnation of acts of terror in the name of Islam.

Responding to the ideology of individuals who believe they are doing God’s work when committing acts of terror against innocent civilians, Khan tweeted “God doesn’t want YOU if you behave this way”, and said:

“You are lost, you are a disgrace to your parents, your family, humanity, you are a disgrace to yourself. And the irony is, that the people who carried out these attacks, if they were reportedly Muslims, you share the same Abrahamic lineage as the people that you slaughtered.

“You’re a joke, and not a good one. Fix yourselves man!”

Responses to Khan’s tweet were supportive with one follower replying “Excellent well said brother”.

Guz Khan, a former school teacher from Coventry, became a stand-up comedian after posting several vlog-style videos to Facebook as his Brummie alter-ego ‘Mobeen from Small Heath’, one of which went viral in 2015 when he called for a hoax boycott of film Jurassic World.

The 33-year-old has since performed on stage across the country including Live at the Apollo, and has appeared in his own BBC comedy series Man Like Mobeen, which recently aired its second series.

Khan is also an actor, recently starring alongside Idris Elba in Netflix comedy show Turn Up Charlie; and is due to appear in Four Weddings And a Funeral, a new miniseries based on the original British film which will be helmed by US comedy talent by Mindy Kaling.
