An investigation has been launched by West Midlands Police this afternoon after a serious incident in Smethwick which left a man seriously wounded after being stabbed.
Police sealed off Smethwick High Street as the scene was analysed by officers, and public transport diverted as Smethwick High Street from Stony Lane was sealed off to allow officers to gather evidence.
The police received reports of a street fight at the location a little after 5:30pm. The confrontation left one man with a stab wound to his arm, according to reports. The individual was taken to hospital and is in a serious but stable condition.
There is a car at the scene with damage to the windows. This vehicle is part of the investigation being carried out by West Midlands Police.
No arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries are ongoing.
