15 incredible moments from the Birmingham Pride parade 2019!

It’s a celebration of love, tolerance, and diversity at Birmingham Pride 2019. Now in its 23rd year, it is the UK’s biggest two-day LGBT event, with the most iconic moments coming from the parade event.

With almost 18,000 people turning up, it’s hard to believe that Birmingham Pride first started in 1997 on a single stage with only a few hundred guests.

This year’s parade will be led by teacher Andrew Moffat, the assistant headteacher at Parkfield School in Saltley, who penned the No Outsiders programme which teaches children tolerance to all genders and sexualities. This has subsequently led to parents staging protests outside the school.

Also leading the front of the parade is two queer-identifying LGBT Muslims. Saima Razzaq, co-founder of SEEDS (Support Education, Equality, and Diversity in Schools) and Khakan Quereshi, founder of Birmingham South Asians LGBT.
