West Midlands Police are conducting a stop-and-search operation in the Small Heath area of Birmingham this afternoon after an alleged crime knife crime incident.
Local residents who live around the Digby Park area were shocked to see police swoop into the park to search two groups of young men this afternoon around 5:30pm.
Sections of St. Benedicts Road, Somerville Road, and Mansel Road in Small Heath have been closed off as police carry out an investigation.
A local man at the scene spoke to I Am Birmingham:
“I saw a police car and two ambulances speeding down and then saw officers in Digby Park.
“I pray no one is seriously hurt.”
