A man has been charged with murdering his mother and step-father at their home in Oldbury, Birmingham, on Tuesday 25th February.

Anmol Chana, 25, was arrested and charged with the murder of Jasbir Kaur, 52, and her husband Rupinder Singh Bassan, 51.

The couple were found dead at their home in Moat Road, Oldbury, at around 4am on Tuesday.

Police forced their way into the home after concerns were raised for the welfare of the couple.

They were pronounced dead at the scene after having suffered serious injuries. West Midlands Police have confirmed that post-mortems will be held to establish the precise cause of death.

Anmol Chana was arrested a short time after the discovery, at his home in Hamilton Road, Smethwick.

He was charged with the murders and appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday 27th February.

In another development, the couple’s Toyota Aygo, which had disappeared from their home, was found in Smethwick after a member of the public spotted the West Midlands Police appeal to track down the car.

The vehicle will be examined by forensic experts.

Detective Inspector Hannah Whitehouse, who is leading the investigation, said:

“We’re continuing to support the family of Jasbir and Rupinder at this awful time.”
