Police appeal for witnesses after stabbing in Stony Lane

A man was stabbed and another slashed in Sandwell last night following a clash between a gang of men on a public street.

West Midlands Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after a confrontation involving a group of men in Stony Lane, Smethwick, resulted in two men being stabbed around 7:30pm on Friday 6th March.

Residents reportedly witnessed a disorder between a group of men in Stony Lane, Smethwich, around 7:30pm. One man, aged 21, was stabbed in the back while the other man, aged 31, suffered a slash wound to his finger.

An ambulance crew arrived at the scene and the individuals were taken to hospital for treatment. The street was cordoned off as police officers spoke to residents about the incident.

West Midlands Police is currently investigating the case and have issued an appeal to any witnesses to come forward.

A West Midlands Police spokesman, said:

“We are investigating after one man was stabbed and another suffered a slash wound to his hand, following a disorder with a group of men on Stony Lane in Smethwick, just before 7.30pm on Friday.

“A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his back, though his injury is not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening at this time.

“Another man, aged 31, was treated for an injury to his finger.

“Enquiries continue to trace the offenders and anyone with information is asked to contact us.”
