Schoolboy stabbed by machete thugs outside city academy

West Midlands Police have released CCTV footage in a bid to trace the thugs who were involved in a suspected targeted stabbing of a schoolboy in Birmingham city centre.

Police officers were called to Central Academy school in Newhall Street at around 3.10pm on Wednesday 11th March after reports came in of a knife attack on a teenager.

A 15-year-old schoolboy was stabbed several times with a machete outside the academy which was thronged with other pupils.

The victim was quickly rushed to hospital to receive medical treatment for his injuries.

Officers who are investigating the case have released CCTV footage of the attack in a bid to capture the perpetrators who launched the vicious attack.

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation into this crime and a 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of assault.

The hunt continues to find the rest of the armed group who launched the attack.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack to come forward and provide any details which will help in identifying the machete attackers.

Sergeant Asaf Khan from CID, said:

“Although the arrest is great progress, I am asking for anyone who recognises the people in this CCTV to speak to us.

“We need to trace the boys who think it’s acceptable to walk around with a knife and attack a schoolboy.

“I am also interested in hearing from witnesses who saw what happened and that have not yet spoken to us, as well as those with mobile phone or dashcam footage.”
