Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and information after a woman was hit by a car in Alum Rock, Birmingham.

West Midlands Police are investigating the tragic death of Sultan Bi who was struck by a Toyota Corolla Verso at the car park near Azad Supermarket, Alum Rock Road, at around 10.50am on Wednesday 4th March 2020.

The 62-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with fractures to her spine but she sadly passed away on Monday 16th March.

Her family issued a moving tribute:

“Our mum was the most loving and caring person, she was a beautiful mother, grandma, nan, auntie and friend to many people and leaves a huge void in all our lives.

“We urge witnesses to come forward with any information surrounding the incident, however small they feel.

“We are devastated by the loss of our mum, our lives will be empty without her.

“We ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

The driver of the Toyota Corolla Verso, a 69-year-old man, remained at the scene of the collision and is helping police with enquiries.

Sergeant Alan Hands, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“Our thoughts are with the family of Ms Bi at this terrible time.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the Alum Rock area around the time of the collision and may have information to assist our enquiries.”
