A man wanted in connection with an arson attack at a home in Northfield, where a woman and children escaped death, has been arrested by detectives after an appeal was launched.
34-year-old David White was detained at a property in Rubery after West Midlands Police issued an appeal for information on Thursday 16th April.
He was sought over a disturbing arson attack on a house in Farren Road, Northfield, where a woman and two children resided.
The fire ripped through the home and destroyed the property but the occupants escaped without serious injury.
A 41-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender – both remain in police custody.
Inspector Dave Sproson said: “We have had a team of officers working around the clock dedicated to tracing the suspect.
“Thankfully nobody was seriously injured but the fire destroyed the property and it could have turned out a lot worse.
“The family have since been safeguarded and are being kept up to date with this latest development.”
