Manhunt launched in Bordesley Green after brutal drive-by shooting

Police have launched a manhunt following a shocking drive-by shooting on Sunday night in Palace Road in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham which left a man seriously injured.

The victim, who is thought to be in his 20s, was shot in the chest around 10.30pm on Sunday 10th May. His attacker reportedly opened fired from a car which sped off following the shooting.

Local residents in Bordesley Green and Small Heath are still reeling from the disturbing drive-by shooting which took place on their doorsteps during the coronavirus lockdown.

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation into this serious incident and issued a statement:

“We’re investigating after a man was shot in the chest in Palace Road, Bordesley Green, just after 10.30pm yesterday, May 10.

“The shot was believed to have been fired from a car which then made off.

“A man in his 20s was taken to hospital.”

The victim was rushed to hospital by an ambulance crew after he was found bleeding on the pavement in Palace Road.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson, said:

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who had suffered potentially serious injuries. Following treatment at the scene he was transported to hospital.

“The doctor travelled with the patient on the ambulance to continue treatment on route to hospital.”

Footage of the victim being given emergency medical treatment at the scene was filmed by bystanders and has gone viral on social media.

West Midlands Police have confirmed a manhunt has been launched and detectives are determined to bring to justice the people responsible for this brutal crime.

A police spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information can contact us.”
