Police have launched an investigation after a woman was brutally stabbed in her stomach at her home in Birmingham on Thursday morning.

Ambulance crews alerted police to the crime upon arrival at a property in Quarry House Close in the Frankley area of Birmingham where they found a woman in a pool of blood.

When ambulance staff arrived at the residence located in a quiet cul-de-sac at 11:20am on Thursday (14 May) they immediately informed police after discovering the female patient had suffered serious stab wounds to her stomach.

The injured woman was transferred to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Detectives have launched an investigation into this crime and efforts are underway to trace the person who carried out the vicious attack against a defencless woman.

West Midlands police are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious, a disorder or a man fleeing the scene to contact officers.

House to house enquiries are being carried out and CCTV footage of the area is also being examined in the hope of identifying the attacker.
