Police have charged a father and his partner over the shocking death of a six-year-old boy from Solihull.

Officers were called to a house in Cranmore Road at around 3pm on Tuesday (16 June) where little Arthur Labinjo-Hughes was found unresponsive.

The youngster, who was found in cardiac arrest, was taken to hospital where he sadly died in the early hours of the following morning.

A post mortem examination carried out on Friday revealed the young lad had tragically died from a head injury.

Arthur’s father Thomas Hughes, (27-year-old), and his partner Emma Tustin, (31-year-old) – both from Cranmore Road in Solihull – were arrested on Tuesday and have now been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

Detective Inspector Laura Harrison, from the Homicide Unit, said: “Arthur’s death is deeply distressing and we have specialist officers with his family as they grieve his loss.”
