West Midlands Police are appealing for information after a 19-year-old man was stabbed in Witton yesterday afternoon.

A major road near the Aston area of the city has been shut after the young man was stabbed in a callous broad daylight attack.

The teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries but officers have said his injuries are not life-threatening.

Officers investigating the incident have sealed off Witton Road, near the junctions with Tame Road and Deykin Avenue.

According to the force, police were called to the scene shortly after 2pm today (September 8) following reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with information, to get in touch.

In a statement, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We were called just after 2.15pm today to Tame Road, Witton, to reports that a man had been stabbed.

“The 19-year-old has been taken to hospital, but the extent of his injuries is not yet clear.

“The road has been closed, and drivers are urged to avoid the area.

Detectives are reviewing local CCTV and are appealing for anyone who was in the area and may have any information or dashcam footage to contact them.

Detective Chief Inspector John Askew, from force CID, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing, this stabbing occurred in the middle of the afternoon in a busy road so please come forward if you have any information that would help our investigation.”
