COP BLOCK: Flush fail as police discover drugs stash down a loo

A suspected drug dealer had a spot of toilet trouble this morning when police raided his flat and found more than 500 wraps of suspicious powder in the loo.

West Midlands Police had executed a warrant at the flat in Camden Street, in the Upper Stoke area of Coventry, at 7.30am on Thursday 14 January.

Officers arrested a man and woman before discovering a stash of what’s believed to be crack cocaine and heroin in the toilet bowl. Clearly unaware and unprepared of what was coming, it appears the residents attempted to flush the suspected drugs down the loo.

Police revealed they suspected the pair made a dash to the bathroom as officers moved in but failed in their bid to flush away potentially vital evidence.

A 23-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were then arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply. Both suspects remain in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Tony Ashton said: “We’ll be sending the powder away for a forensic examination but it’s strongly suspected to be Class A drugs.

“If so, this is a significant quantity we’ve recovered plus we also seized around £2,000 in cash from the address.

“The man has claimed to be a student at a University in Nottingham. I think he’s got some explaining to do.”
