Lady Leshurr, Junior Giscombe, Janet Kay and Omar among stars to perform at Solihull festival

Some of the the UK’s best RnB, rap and soul music acts will be performing in Solihull over the Bank Holiday weekend, with an incredible line-up including Grammy-winning soul singer Junior Giscombe, rapper Lady Leshurr, Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B and reggae star Janet Kay.

One of the country’s newest music festivals, the Sunshine Pavilion Festival is hoping to launch with a bang on Bank Holiday Monday (August 30) bringing great music and entertainment to the West Midlands.

The event, which is working with Solihull Borough Council and helping raise money for local good causes, promises to be “the ultimate feel-good music festival” and a day to remember following 18 months of lockdowns during the pandemic.

Among the stellar line-up of artists is rising star Lady Leshurr, recently seen on BBC’s Dancing On Ice and winner of Channel 4’s Celebrity Circle.

With DJ sets from the legendary Jazzie B and John Simmit and performances from soul singer Omar Lye-Fook, The Voice’s Kezia Soul and musical classics from reggae star Janet Kay to celebrate her 40th anniversary in the industry; the festival is sure to be runaway success.

Singer-songwriter Junior Giscombe – famous for popular singles including Mama Used To Say, Too Late and Do You Really – will be gracing the stage with classic hits as well as new material.

Speaking to I Am Birmingham, he said he was looking forward to the showbiz and musical extravaganza.

“I’m going to bring a lot of energy, a lot of fun, a lot of inclusion. As you do when you do festivals, you want to bring everybody in on what you’re doing so I think we’ve got the right songs for it and it’s going to be fun and that’s a lot of what I’m about. I want to be up there having fun and want to share that fun!

“You’ve got Victor Romero, you’ve got Janet Kay, Omar, myself. I think when you come you are coming to have a good time, you’re coming t sing along, you’re coming to have the family and watch the kids run around a God willing, it’s a nice sunny day, and that’s what you’re after.

“You’re after the whole communal ‘let’s get together people, it’s about time’ and let’s all hang and say ‘hi’ to one another.

“I think people need to get out, people need to smile, a lot of people need to dance, we all need a hug and we need to let our fellow human beings know that we love them and we care.”
