18 firefighters from three stations tackle severe house fire in Bordesley Green

A fire which broke out last night (14th Sept) in the bedroom of a house in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham took crews from three fire stations before the blaze, described as “severe”, was brought under control.

The incident was brought to the attention of West Midlands Fire Service just before 8pm on Tuesday night and fire crews arrived within minutes to the scene of the inferno where they battled for an hour.

The bedroom of a property in Botha Road, in Bordesley Green, was the scene of a very serious fire incident on Tuesday night (14th Sept) which took 18 firefighters from three different stations to tackle.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Services said: “At 7.36pm on Tuesday 14th September, West Midlands Fire Service responded to reports of a fire on Botha Road in Bordesley Green, Birmingham.”

West Midlands Fire Service confirmed that due to the severity of the fire at the house three fire crews arrived at the property. Within 5 minutes of the incident report being logged fire crews from Aston, Ward End and Highgate were at the scene.

The spokesperson stated: “Crews from Ward End, Aston and Highgate stations were in attendance within 5 minutes of the call finding a severe fire in a rear first-floor bedroom.”

The serious nature of the fire at the property took almost an hour before it was finally extinguished by the 18 member fire crew who battled bravely to make the location safe.

The spokesperson added: “18 firefighters tackled the fire with two in breathing apparatus and contained the fire to the bedroom in which it started with smoke damage throughout the property.”

The fire crew confirmed that miraculously all of the occupants at the property managed to escape the inferno and everyone was accounted for.
