A young man, described by his family as a “pure soul”, was fatally stabbed in the Kings Norton area of Birmingham on Friday night (1 Oct) and police confirmed a suspect has been arrested and charged with his murder.

Amin Talea, 20, was discovered by a passer-by in Middleton Hall Road at 9.30pm on Friday with a stab wound to his abdomen that would ultimately prove fatal.

Middleton Road was closed at the junctions with Lomaine Drive and Station Road, along with Selly Oak Road at Northfield Road, and forensic examinations were carried out by police on Friday night following the brutal stabbing of Amin Talea.

The 20-year-old knife attack victim was sadly pronounced dead in hospital the following morning.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police stated that a specially trained family liaison officer is supporting the family of the victim during their time of grief.

The family issued a statement which said: “Rest in paradise Amin Talea. You had a pure soul and contagious energy. You will be missed by many. We will carry your legacy through.

“A massive thank-you to the police who have been supportive through this devastating time and thank you to everyone who has been supporting us especially friends, family and the neighbourhood, the love doesn’t go un-noticed.

“I wouldn’t wish this on anybody. Sleep Tight Angel Boy.”

Bouquets, balloons, and cards with heartbreaking and poignant tributes, have been left left by members of the public, including family and friends of the victim near the scene of the crime in Kings Norton.

Police officers conducted door to door enquiries and examined CCTV footage in the area following the stabbing on Friday.

Detective Inspector Ade George, from the Homicide Unit, said: “This young man has lost his life in the most tragic of circumstances and we are determined to get justice for his family.”

Officers working on this tragic case confirmed that a teenager was taken into custody in Selly Oak and officially charged over the fatal stabbing and the suspect has made an appearance in court.

Ridhwaan Farouk, aged 19, has been charged with murder and remanded into prison.
