Police step up patrols after teenage boy shot in Coventry

Police have stepped up patrols and say “we won’t tolerate this kind of violence” after a boy aged 16 was shot in Coventry today (16th Oct).

The youngster is in hospital following the shocking incident which took place in Bishop Street, near Coventry city centre, just after 1am.

Local residents around Bishop Street in Coventry woke up to the alarming news of a shooting involving a teenager in the early hours of the morning.

The victim of the shooting, a 16-year-old boy, was transferred to hospital for medical treatment. Police arrived swiftly and conducted a forensic examination of the scene where the shooting took place.

Detectives working on the case have appealed to local residents to check their CCTV and dashcams for footage from the area.

Discussing the disturbing shooting, Inspector Becky Farr said: “We’ve launched a full investigation into what happened and won’t tolerate this kind of violence on our streets.

“Detectives are working tirelessly to establish exactly what happened and who is responsible.

“We’ve got extra officers patrolling the city centre throughout the weekend to offer reassurance.”
