Man jailed for 22 years after frenzied knife attack on a housemate in Lozells bedsit

A knifeman has been jailed for 22 years for the attempted murder of a former housemate at a bedsit in the Lozells area of Birmingham.

Jacob Taylor, 26, was arrested in Winson Green on the evening of 20 May last year shortly after he had brutally stabbed his victim multiple times in Leyton Road, Lozells.

Taylor had been evicted the previous day following an altercation with the 29-year-old victim but, intent on revenge, he broke back inside the bedsit armed with a knife.

The thug approached the victim as he sat on his sofa eating dinner and stabbed him with what was later described as a vicious “overarm” stabbing motion.

The knifeman launched a frenzied attack on the terrified victim who tried to fight back. When other tenants in the bedsit emerged to investigate the mayhem and disorder they thought Taylor’s bloodied victim was dead.

Police arrived and soon flooded the area with officers and the perpetrator was arrested around two hours later.

Forensic examination on Taylor’s clothing revealed droplets of the victim’s blood and he was charged with attempted murder for his shocking knife attack.

Jacob Taylor was jailed for 22 years for a frenzied knife attack

At Birmingham Crown Court on 13th October he was jailed for 22 years after he was found guilty of attempted murder.

PC Lyn Dell, who investigated the case, said: “This was a shocking attack that nearly cost a man his life. Thanks to medical professionals he pulled through, though, and is continuing his recovery. I wish him well for the future.

“Taylor is clearly a dangerous man who is prepared to use extreme violence with weapons.

“I’m satisfied that the length of his jail terms reflects the severity of the incident.”
