Interactive Squid Game experience heading to Birmingham and Manchester

Netflix has surprised Squid Game fans on Halloween by bringing a replica of the show’s iconic animatronic doll to Westfield shopping centre in London, ahead of the life-size figure also appearing in Birmingham and Manchester next weekend.

As part of the one-day attraction, adult fans are being invited to experience the fully functioning 3-metre tall doll, complete with moving light-up eyes and singing capabilities similar to the version which appears in the hit TV show.

The life-size doll is based on the Red Light, Green Light original from Netflix’s hit series Squid Game

Fans are also being offered the chance to capture photos and videos of the doll in action, and an opportunity to interact with Squid Game costumed guards, with complementary circular cookies, carved with different shapes from the series, also being made available.

Kicking off at London’s Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush on 31 October, the doll is due to appear at Manchester’s Trafford Centre and Birmingham’s New Street Station (below Birmingham Grand Central) on Saturday 6 November.

Fans of the Netflix series Squid Game now have the chance to ‘play’ Red Light Green Light for themselves as props from the show’s most iconic scene tour the UK’s biggest cities.

The giant doll from the hit South Korean series was erected in London’s Westfield shopping centre in time for Halloween on Sunday, nearly a week before it lands in both Birmingham and Manchester next Saturday.

The doll is a smaller replica of the ‘Red Light Green Light’ doll that appeared in episode one of the cult series, standing at 3 metres tall, compared to the 4.5 metre tall version used in Squid Game.

The doll turns her head and chants ‘red light, green light’, and is manned by two pink guards with masks on, as seen in the show.

What is Squid Game?

Netflix
Series 1 of Squid Game has been a huge global hit for Netflix

Squid Game follows hundreds of cash-strapped individuals who are recruited for an illegal Hunger Games-style tournament.

A mysterious invitation to join the game is sent to people at risk who are in dire need of money. 456 participants from all walks of life are locked into a secret location where they play games in order to win ₩45.6 billion won (KRW).

While the tournament appears innocent at first, with popular children’s games at the centre of many of the challenges, they quickly prove to be deadly.

Whoever wins the lethal games will score a 45.6 million cash prize, but first they must survive.

Every game is a Korean traditional children’s game such as Red Light, Green Light, but the consequence of losing is death. Who will be the winner, and what is the purpose behind this game?

As the Squid Game series is rated 15+ and for mature audiences, organisers insist The Squid Game experience is for over 16s only.
