Two Winson Green teenagers in hospital with gunshot wounds

A serious incident involving guns took place in Winson Green and two injured teenagers were rushed to City Hospital on Thursday night.

Two young men were brought to the hospital by car with gunshot wounds just before 10pm on Thursday (30 December).

Armed police units were at the scene within minutes and Aberdeen Street was temporarily closed as officers tried to establish where the shots had been fired.

It is thought the gunshots were fired elsewhere before the injured teenagers were brought to the hospital.

Detectives are now speaking to the injured teenagers to establish what happened and to trace the offenders.

A police spokesperson stated: “This was an alarming incident for people at the hospital, but we would like to reassure visitors, patients and hospital workers that the hospital was not the target of this attack.”
