Police have sealed off a family home in the Stechford area of Birmingham after the bodies of a man and woman were found there last night (27 January).

Officers forced entry to an address in Swancote Road just before 9.30pm after concerns were raised that the couple were not responding to calls or messages.

A police spokesperson stated that a woman, aged 21, and a 47-year-old man were found inside the house and sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police quickly placed a cordon around the property and a search of the house was conducted, including a thorough forensic examination, to determine the cause of the shocking deaths.

Chief Superintendent Mat Shaer from Birmingham East Police, said: “This is truly awful and my heart goes out to the couple’s family and friends.

“It was clear that nothing could be done to save the man or woman.

“No doubt this will come as a huge shock to neighbours and the local community.”

Post mortem examinations are scheduled to take place later today to understand exactly how the man and woman died.

The force confirmed that a specially trained liaison officer will be supporting the family of the two individuals who tragically died inside the house.
