A woman who was brutally murdered in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham on Friday (28 January) has been identified as Marena Shaban.
The mother-of-four was discovered with fatal injuries in the entrance of a property in North Holme, Bordesley Green shortly after 7pm.
A police spokesperson confirmed that nothing could be done to save Marena, and she sadly passed away at the scene despite the best efforts of medical crews.
Marena’s mother paid tribute to her daughter and described her as a “loving, caring and dedicated mother” who had “a fantastic personality and real zest for life”.
She added: “She leaves behind four children and a huge family who loved, admired and cared for her deeply.
“The entire family are absolutely devastated by her death and ask that we are given space to grieve.”
Inspector Harjit Ubhi, from Birmingham West, added: “This is truly a tragic incident and my heart goes out to Marena’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers.”
Detectives are reviewing CCTV and talking to witnesses, and continue to appeal for any information or anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time to come forward.
A forensic post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow (31 January) to establish the cause of death.
