Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man was found with fatal injuries in Wright Road in the Saltley area of Birmingham in the early hours of Saturday (19 February).

Officers were alerted at 12.45am by ambulance crews who had found the tragic victim with serious injuries inside a car.

Sadly the man – believed to be in his his 20s – was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesperson stated that the victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A cordon has been put in place at the scene of the fatality as police carry out investigations.

Officers have already spoken to a number of people in the area and have worked to identify CCTV cameras that may have captured what happened.

Residents in the area, which overlaps neighbouring Alum Rock and Washwood Heath, have expressed shock at the discovery with some posting images and video of the police cordon on social media.

Detective Inspector Michelle Thurgood, from Force CID, said: “We’re at the early stages of this investigation and our thoughts are with the man’s family.

“We are working to find out what happened and a large number of officers are at the scene and in the area to establish the facts.

“Anyone who saw anything or has dashcam, CCTV or doorbell camera footage from around the time of the incident, should please let officers at the scene know or call us on 101.”
