Man and woman arrested over Saltley shooting of Muhammed Sohail

Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of Muhammed Sohail in Saltley (19 February) have arrested a man and a woman over the tragic killing.

Police detained a 35-year-old man on suspicion of murder last night (28 February) in the Chelmsley Wood area of Birmingham.

A 34-year-old woman was also arrested in Sheldon on suspicion of assisting an offender and they both remain in police custody for questioning.

Mr Sohail was found in a car in Wright Road, Saltley, with a fatal gunshot wound at around 12.45am on Saturday 19 February.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services the 25-year-old was tragically confirmed dead at the scene.

Detective Inspector Adam Jobson, from the Homicide Team, said: “These arrests are a significant development in our investigation into Mr Sohail’s killing.

“He was a young man who should have had his life ahead of him, and we remain determined to get answers for his family.

“We’ve carried out extensive enquiries but we remain keen to hear from anyone with information who can assist us in getting justice for Mr Sohail.”
