Fears grow for missing teenager Iqra Nisar from Birmingham

Police and family of a missing Birmingham teenager are growing concerned about her safety and have launched an urgent appeal to find her.

Iqra Nisar, aged 19, was reportedly last seen on Friday afternoon in Small Heath (4 March).

The missing teenager is described as 5ft 2ins tall and was last seen wearing light grey joggers, black hoody, black trainers, a dark green coat with a pink handbag.

Iqra’s family previously released their own appeal on social media which has gone viral.

Bobby Hussain, a member of a Small Heath Facebook page, wrote: “Me and my family were shopping in Coventry Road on Saturday when an Asian lady approached us. She was extremely distraught.

“She showed us a picture of a girl named Iqra Nisar who has been missing since Friday. The lady explained Iqra went to the college in Golden Hillock Road and then did not return home.

“As a father of two beautiful young girls it breaks my heart to witness a girl go missing. This lady was in a terrible condition with nowhere and no one to turn to. One can only imagine the excruciating pain the family is going through and I pray no other family ever has to feel the pain this woman was feeling.”

Mr Hussain also appealed to the local community and businesses to assist in the search for Iqra: “I put this message out there to plead with anyone out there if you have any details about Iqra please please please for the sake of your own children contact the family or contact the police.

“Any local businesses in the area especially if you’re close to the college share your CCTV with the family or the police. Let’s come together as a community, from one family to another lets help find Iqra.”

Mr Hussain also reached out to Iqra and said: “Finally Iqra if you’re reading this please contact your family or contact the police and let them know you’re safe. We’re all praying for your safe return.”

West Midlands Police are now urging people to contact officers directly with any information so that Iqra can be found quickly.

A police spokesperson, said: “Investigators from Locate – the police dedicated missing persons unit – are ready to act on any information about Iqra’s whereabouts. If you have seen her, or if you have any information that could lead to locating her, please dial 999 quoting the reference MPBE/2281/22.”
