The man was discovered near the junction of Stubbs Road and Chequerfield Drive, Penn Fields on Sunday (24 April) at around 9pm.
The 46-year-old was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
A 53-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been released without charge.
Police are continuing to trawl through CCTV from the area and have carried out house to house enquiries, but have said they are keen to hear from people who were in the area at the time.

“You may have seen or heard something which will assist our investigation. Likewise, if you were travelling through the area and have dash cam footage this could help us.”
