Several other people required medical aid, including one man who suffered life-threatening injuries, according to Ambulance crews.

Over 20 local residents had to be evacuated to safety last night, and rehoused in council properties and hotels, as emergency services worked at the scene of the tragedy.

Authorities believe the explosion, which could be heard as far away as Sutton Coldfied, was caused by gas and an investigation has begun into what led to the horrific blast.
