Police have launched an appeal after a female passenger was sexually assaulted inside a Birmingham bus on Wednesday (31 May).

The disturbing sex attack took place in Coventry Road around 11am on the X2 Birmingham to Solihull bus service.

Witnesses say the driver of the National Express West Midlands bus contacted police and stopped the bus in Coventry Road and officers boarded the bus following the brazen sexual assault.

I Am Birmingham contacted West Midlands Police for further details about the appalling incident.

A police spokesperson, said: “We were called at 11am on 31 May after a woman reported being sexually assaulted on a bus in Coventry Road.

“We are carrying out further enquiries and are encouraging anyone who was on the X2 bus at that time to contact us if they have more information.

“Contact us via Live Chat quoting crime number 20/429424/23.”

A teenage female passenger reported a sex crime on the upper deck of the same bus service last year.

The youngster was targeted on 18th March as the X2 bus service approached the Coventry Road and Upper Trinity Street junction near Bordesley railway station.

Police arrested a 41-year-old suspect after he allegedly exposed himself to the teenage passenger.
