West Midlands Police have arrested a man after a woman was sexually assaulted in Handsworth Park on Sunday.
Officers were alerted around 7.30pm and officers immediately cordoned off an area of the Birmingham park for forensic examination. The cordon has now been lifted.
“A 27-year-old man was arrested last night (8 Jan) on suspicion of rape and remains in custody for questioning,” police confirmed in a statement.
The force emphasised they had stepped up patrols in the area and are urging anyone with concerns to contact them.
