VIDEO: ‘Machete’ gang attack in Aston involving over 20 young men

A gang fight involving over 20 young men and what appears to be machete broke out earlier today on the corner of Trinity Road and Bevington Road in Aston, just yards from Birmingham’s Aston Villa Football Club.

Shortly after 6pm this evening (Saturday), a scuffle broke out between a group of youths after an individual wielding what resembles a machete – a broad blade used in combat – began attacking other young lads around him. It is not know what provoked this initial attack.

The other men around him responded by tackling him to the ground and laying into him, kicking and punching, while some attempted to retrieve the blade.

The attack continued until they young men were called out by passing drivers, after which they dispersed.

West Midlands Police officers were called out to respond to the incident, but arrived at the scene after those involved had mostly left the scene.

A WMP spokeswoman said:

“We received reports of a group of boys fighting on Bevington Road, at around 6pm on Saturday.

“When officers arrived no-one remained at the scene. There were no arrests and no reports of any injuries. Witnesses reported a machete had been seen.

“Anyone with information or video footage is urged to call police on 101, quoting log number 2090 of April 14.”
