What is SBTV?

SBTV (often stylised as SB.TV or SB:TV, and also known as SmokeyBarz) is an urban music YouTube channel founded by Jamal Edwards which has developed into an internationally prominent broadcast company, run by a small team of young people who work on web-based content, generally with a new music angle.

The media platform has its origins and roots in urban music, but continues to expand to reach new audiences across the globe, with a special focus on “street-shot” freestyle raps and music videos.

SB.TV have also diversified into events and have curated stages at Bestival, Wireless, Outlook and other music festivals. SB.TV’s influence have lead them to film interviews with former Prime Minister David Cameron and HRH Prince Charles.

The platform is additionally credited with ‘discovering’ Ed Sheeran, whose music was aired exclusively on SB.TV a full year before the artist achieved worldwide fame.

The SBTV pop-up is on at the Custard Factory Birmingham between 11am-7pm on Wednesday 5th September 2018.
