Some of the biggest names in TV were among the nominees and winners for the prestigious 2019 Programme Awards of the Royal Television Society (RTS) Midlands at the ICC in Birmingham last night.
Nottingham born actor Vicky McClure was presented with the Best Female Actor award for her performance as DCI Kate Fleming in series 5 of Line Of Duty.
There were also huge celebrations for Coventry’s Guz Khan as he claimed two trophies for Best Male Actor for the BBC Three comedy series, Man Like Mobeen and for Best Writer, which he jointly won with his co-writer Andy Milligan.
The glittering awards ceremony at the ICC Birmingham, celebrated the television and broadcasting industry across the region and was hosted by popular radio and television presenter Trish Adudu. The special event was graced by television, arts and media talent from across the region including stars of Doctors, news and radio presenters, writers, producers and comedians.
Caren Davies, Chair, RTS Midlands says: “This year has been an outstanding year for the Midlands in terms of TV and digital production. The breadth and diversity of the content is a true reflection of the talent and creativity of the region.
“It was great to see the Midlands television industry out in force alongside many familiar faces from our TV screens. It was a truly exciting evening of celebration.”
