Man arrested after making offensive coronavirus video demanding “I hope all NHS die!”

Police have arrested a man for allegedly making a menacing coronavirus phone call to a Birmingham hospital and posting an offensive YouTube video entitled “I hope all NHS die”.

West Midlands Police confirmed that Matthew Wain was arrested from a flat in Perry Barr, Birmingham, in the early hours of Wednesday (April 1) in connection with a YouTube video in which a man recorded himself making a menacing phone call to City Hospital in Dudley Road.

A police spokesperson confirmed that Wain allegedly made threats to staff at City Hospital staff during a phone call and also said “I hope the staff die of coronavirus”.

Wain also allegedly said “I hope all NHS die!”

The 31-year-old has been charged with sending menacing or offensive communications and has been bailed to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on 29th April 2020.

This offensive video comes only days after Police rebuked a fake viral video that claimed a mosque in Small Heath was violating the coronavirus lockdown.
